Workshop on Fast Track International Commercial


The Malta Arbitration Centre has organised a workshop entitled “Fast Track International Commercial Arbitration” in collaboration with the Tunis Centre for Conciliation and Arbitration at The Casino Maltese in Valletta.

The main speakers at the event were MAC Chairman Dr George Hyzler; the President of the Tunis Centre, Dr Chawki Tabib; MAC Registrar, Dr Fiona Galea Farrugia; Dr Matthew Paris, Law Professor Kamel Charfeddine, Law Professor Salma Khaled, Assia Ayari, a Judge of the Tunisian Supreme Court, Professor Hatem Rouatbi and Mr Ahmed Ouerfelli.  Her Excellency Zohra Ladgham, the Tunisian Ambassador to Malta attended.

This Workshop marked another step in the co-operation between the Maltese and Tunisian centres, followed the signing of a Co-operation Agreement between the two centres on the 14th December 2015.

During the Workshop, there was an exchange and discussion amongst the Maltese and Tunisian attendees with respect to fast-track and online international arbitration.

The Chairman and the Board of Governors of the Malta Arbitration Centre will be organising an event to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of the coming into force of the Arbitration Act. 

During this event, a swearing-in ceremony and the taking of the oath of office by the new members appointed to the Centre's Panels of Arbitrators, together with the launching of the Centre's revamped website will take place.

The Hon. Chris Said, Minister for Justice, Dialogue and the Family and Dr George M. Hyzler, Chairman of the Malta Arbitration Centre will attend.​
